LISA Test

Ensure a lower cost of quality with complete, automated test coverage

LISA Test is a complete and collaborative automated testing solution specifically designed for modern applications that leverage SOA, BPM, cloud computing, integration suites, and ESBs. LISA Test's no-code testing environment allows QA, Development and others to rapidly design and execute functional, unit, regression and load tests against dynamic web sites (RIAs), as well as natively testing and verifying business logic within most middle-tier technologies that exist below the UI. LISA Test consists of:

  • Functional Testing: LISA's easy to use, declarative test model allows QA, Development, and Business Analyst teams to test rich browser and web user interfaces, as well as the many building blocks and data residing below the UI. With LISA, all of the data and implementation layers the team needs to functionally test can be analyzed, invoked and verified to ensure requirements are met.
  • Agile Regression Testing: Extends the value of creating and modeling unit and functional tests by allowing dynamic LISA tests to be remotely executed as a part of build, Test Management and Application Lifecycle Management tools and processes. Errors and exceptions are found earlier in the lifecycle, reducing costs and increasing team agility.
  • Load & Performance Testing: Load testing is more effective when conducted as early as possible. Waiting for a completed application to stress test at the user interface level is no longer sufficient. LISA can load test individual components and workflows during design and development, during integration, and in deployment. Individual functional tests and system-wide business processes are load tested using the same environment, resulting in efficient test coverage, with rich functional and performance metrics and reports.
  • Streamlined Defect Collaboration and Resolution: LISA enables faster, more streamlined resolution of defects by enabling QA testers to capture a defect along with complete developer context including all system transactions, underlying components, architecture details, and other artifacts to ensure defect reproducibility by Development the first time.
  • LISA Software Development Kit: The LISA SDK provides powerful extensibility features to bring testability to your legacy and custom-developed components. The LISA Extension API allows developers to embed testability within custom or legacy code, providing rich test feedback and instructions from within the application under test.

The Challenge: Increasing Application Architecture Complexity and Change

iTKO LISA Test

Today's modern applications are more distributed, complex and dynamic. On the front end, new Web 2.0, Cloud Computing, AJAX and SaaS delivery models are driving more complex Rich Internet Application (RIA) functionality into the browser. On the back end, enterprise applications consume services from a variety of business partners, supporting many underlying systems and data sources, which are concealed from the end user.

Quality can only be ensured when every layer of the application is tested and validated throughout the software design, development, and delivery lifecycle. Out of the box, LISA supports all commonly used standards in service-based architectures, and has native integration with most J2EE servers, integration suites, and ESBs. LISA's extensibility kit helps rapidly provide coverage over any proprietary technologies so that testability issues can be resolved rapidly with minimum cost and effort

Features of LISA Test

  • Complete test coverage of heterogeneous, distributed technologies. In a single test environment, LISA invokes and verifies functionality at every layer of the application architecture, from dynamic web apps, to web services (WSDL/SOAP), ESB/JMS messaging layers, EJB servers, Java objects, databases, file systems, legacy objects and much more.
  • Codeless functional, regression and load testing. There are no test scripts or code to write or maintain in LISA, which enables developers and non-developers alike to collaborate on testing with high productivity, even against "headless" middle-tier services and apps that have no user interface.
  • Codeless Web & RIA Recording and Testing: Record entire UI testing session into versatile and extensible automated tests. LISA captures all user actions and maintains user identity and security context, from mouse clicks and data entry, to drag-and-drop functions in the web UI.
  • Fast, accurate defect collaboration without requiring new technical skills. QA testers can capture defects along with complete developer's context with a single "Alt-click" from the tester's browser or application UI. No technical scripting, detailed descriptions, or development expertise is required from the tester, yet the captured defect contains all system transactions, underlying components, and architectural transparency to ensure defect reproducibility in Development.
  • Integrates seamlessly with your application development and test management tools. LISA test cases are easily stored and launched as actionable test assets alongside your source code management (SCM), requirements management, build, issue tracking or test management tools (including HP Quality Center or IBM Rational Quality Manager).
  • Scheduled and event-based functional and load testing. You can stage a single or multiple tests with a few transactions every second, or run thousands of Virtual Users every night to test performance. LISA's continuous validation service (CVS) can run a test suite based upon a build or other event to check regressions. LISA can also be used to find the thresholds for load and performance by automatically adjusting load to find failure points for any component or system.

The more complex your enterprise applications are, the more compelling LISA Test becomes. Quality is not just a tool you can buy, it is an experience your whole team needs to own. iTKO invites you to take a closer look at LISA Test, and consider LISA Virtualize & Validate to increase the continuous quality coverage and availability of virtual test environments.
